Visiting the website
Cloudflare hosts this website through Cloudflare Pages and processes technical connection data, including your IP address, request time, requested URL, and browser information, to deliver the pages and protect the service against abuse. Our contact and newsletter forms also run on Cloudflare.
The legal basis is our legitimate interest in operating a reliable and secure website under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. We do not maintain a separate visitor database or archive of access logs. Technical data is retained as necessary to deliver the service, investigate faults or security incidents, and satisfy applicable legal requirements.
Contacting us
If you email us or use our contact form, we process your name, email address, optional company or project name, and message to respond. Depending on your enquiry, the legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR for pre-contractual communication or Article 6(1)(f) GDPR for our legitimate interest in responding to correspondence.
Contact-form messages are delivered to our studio inbox through Brevo. Email sent directly to [email protected] is forwarded to that inbox by Cloudflare Email Routing, which processes the message and addressing information for delivery. Message contents are not stored in a website database. The form keeps a temporary, in-memory request counter associated with your IP address to limit repeated submissions. Contacting us does not add you to a marketing list.
We retain correspondence while needed to resolve your enquiry and any related contractual or legal matters. Where business correspondence is subject to statutory retention duties, we retain it for the applicable period; otherwise we delete it when it is no longer needed.
Studio letters
With your consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR, we use your email address to send game news, experiments, devlogs, and studio updates through Brevo. Subscription is optional and requires a checkbox opt-in followed by confirmation using an emailed link. Finding the creature or contacting us does not subscribe you automatically. Confirmed signups through the finder invitation are also assigned to our finder group.
Brevo processes your email address, subscription status, confirmation and delivery records. Its emails can count opens and clicks; we enable anonymized tracking for confirmation emails and newsletters so those statistics are not associated with individual contacts in our reports. We do not use them to build individual reading profiles.
You can withdraw consent at any time through the unsubscribe link in a newsletter or by contacting us. Withdrawal does not affect earlier lawful processing. We retain your subscription while it is active. After withdrawal, limited consent and suppression records may be retained as necessary to document your choice, prevent further mailings, and address legal claims.
Brevo is configured to retain transactional delivery logs for one month and not retain email previews. These settings do not automatically delete active subscriptions, consent records, or messages already delivered to an inbox.
Service providers and international processing
We use Cloudflare for hosting and form processing, and Brevo for email delivery and subscription management. Their data-processing terms govern processing on our behalf. Cloudflare operates an international network, including in the United States. Transfers outside the EEA are covered by the safeguards described in its Data Processing Addendum, including standard contractual clauses where applicable.
Brevo states that its databases are hosted in the EU. Details of its processors and transfer safeguards are in the Data Processing Agreement included in its Terms of Service. You can contact us for information about the safeguards relevant to your data.
Cookies, fonts, and analytics
The website does not include advertising trackers, web analytics scripts, embedded third-party media, or marketing cookies. Fonts and visual assets are served from the website itself. The hide-and-seek game keeps its progress only in page memory.
Your rights
Subject to the conditions of the GDPR, you may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, or data portability. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests for reasons relating to your particular situation, and to direct marketing at any time. You may also lodge a complaint with a data-protection supervisory authority, including the Hamburg Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.
Providing contact or subscription details is voluntary, but we need the requested details to reply or send studio letters. We do not make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects about you.
